TA is looking for an Art Director to support our NY creative team in the design and production of traditional and digital marketing pieces. The Art Director will perform a 60/40 split between production and direction, overseeing the creative execution for clients while looking to build solid digital foundations and a team of digitally capable experts.


The Art Director’s job is to create beautiful and compelling experiences online and in print for demanding, world-class clients. You must understand the importance of creative strategy and have experience working in digital and direct marketing projects. You must also lead designers and productions artists, fostering an environment of agility, collaboration and human-centered design.

  • Lead the creative concepting and execution for digital-first initiatives with print/traditional coming in a close second. 
  • Collaborate with external and internal partners in the development of strategic concepts and executions from creative brief through project completion
  • Provide direction and guidance for Designers and Studio Artists to ensure final creative product is on strategy, maintains the creative integrity of the original concept and meets the agency’s quality standards
  • Provide quotes for time and resources for new projects, ensuring creative scope, schedule and budget are accurate and maintained throughout the project life cycle
  • Remain up-to-date and train team on the latest developments in digital and direct marketing best practices
  • Execute other duties as assigned, including new business pitches, internal agency projects, press checks, art direction for photo/video shoots
  • Adherence to TA’s information security standards, as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Skills Required

  • Sound understanding of integrated direct marketing principles as demonstrated through a wide-ranging portfolio focused on direct marketing campaigns with a strong digital emphasis including conceptual, design and production expertise.
  • Demonstrated exceptional skill-sets in graphic design, typography, interface design (UX design, UI design, IA, and Wireframing), information design, highly capable in Adobe Illustrator creating custom iconography and info graphics based on branded visual language.
  • Experience planning and executing both redesigns as well as new-concept design projects, from start to finish
  • Proficiency with industry standard programs like Adobe CS, Sketch and Invision, Microsoft Office
  • Thorough understanding of the design process, project management principles, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior team members
  • Highly organized with an ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and simultaneously handle multiple projects with total accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills - able to present and convey ideas to a number of audiences including senior management, clients, and cross-functional teams – with a smile and enthusiasm
  • Self-directed, motivated, collaborative and be someone who is willing to learn, adapt and grow
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS or UI/UX design experience a plus
