Account Strategist 

Overview

The role of the Account Strategist is to assist the Group Strategy Director and Strategy Directors in their effort to represent the consumer to the agency as marketing communications and other agency deliverables are developed. Leveraging consumer insights, the Account Strategist assists in the development of consultative materials that connect client customers with client brands. Examples of these materials include strategic briefs, creative briefs, messaging architectures, customer journey maps and strategic Point of View (POV) documents. The account strategist also participates in client-sponsored, primary and secondary research projects. This involves a consultative approach to methodology and design, and includes fielding, reporting and analysis where applicable.

Essential Job Functions

  • Working with client and account management teams to clearly define and understand audiences, outline needs
  • Monitor and report on trends and insights related to consumers, clients, competitors and industries
  • Oversee and analyze client sponsored research, including qualitative and quantitative projects that uncover key insights that serve as the foundation for strategic efforts
  • Participate in the development of strategic marketing plans, including audience segmentation, brand positioning and messaging hierarchy with guidance from the Group Strategy Director as appropriate
  • Build marketing documentation that guides work across agency disciplines, including strategic briefs, creative briefs and relevant POVs
  • Proactively identify research and information that strengthens the client-agency relationship and guides the strategic work
  • Collaborate with internal agency teams (media, business intelligence, lifecycle marketing, DCX) to provide strong strategic recommendations and inform campaign optimization
  • Be an active participant on the team that supports strategic efforts on a client-by-client basis

Basic Skills Required

  • 7+ years of agency or consulting experience, preferably in a strategic role
  • Inspire confidence in clients and co-works through clear communication of developed materials and recommendations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiar with survey software (such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
  • Self-motivated and willing to problem solve
  • Creativity in developing solutions for client needs
  • High energy, positive attitude, and a strong work ethic
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Other duties as assigned
